CalcCopy Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 7, 2026

CalcCopy is a Chrome extension that helps users move technical calculations from supported AI assistant websites into Microsoft Word. This policy explains what information CalcCopy accesses, why it is needed, how it is processed, and whether it is shared.

1. Information CalcCopy accesses

CalcCopy accesses only website content needed for its user-facing calculation-transfer features. When you select content, capture an assistant response, copy a calculation, or download a Word file, CalcCopy may read the relevant assistant response on chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, or claude.ai. This may include response text, rendered equations, tables, and formatting needed to preserve the calculation.

CalcCopy is designed to capture assistant responses and user-selected portions of those responses. It does not read passwords, authentication cookies, payment information, browser history, or clipboard contents.

2. How information is used

Accessed content is used only for CalcCopy's single purpose: previewing, copying, and converting technical calculations into Word-compatible clipboard content or a locally generated .docx file.

3. Local processing and storage

Calculation content is processed locally in your browser. CalcCopy does not upload captured ChatGPT or Claude content to the developer or to third-party servers. Captured content is held temporarily in extension memory for the active workflow and is cleared when the relevant tab changes, navigates, or the extension panel is closed. CalcCopy does not maintain a cloud database or persistent conversation history.

Word files are generated locally in the browser and downloaded directly to your device.

4. Clipboard access

CalcCopy uses clipboard-write access only after you choose a copy action. It writes the selected calculation in Word-compatible formats. CalcCopy does not request clipboard-read access and does not read clipboard contents.

5. Analytics, tracking, advertising, and sales

CalcCopy does not include analytics, advertising SDKs, behavioral tracking, or telemetry in this release. It does not sell, rent, or share captured calculation content or browsing data for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or data-broker purposes.

6. Sharing with third parties

CalcCopy does not transmit captured calculation content to third parties. No third party receives the calculations you capture through the extension in this release.

7. Permissions and site access

8. Payments and accounts

CalcCopy v1.3.8 is free to use. This release does not require a CalcCopy account and does not process payments, subscriptions, license keys, or financial information. If a future release adds accounts, licensing, payments, analytics, or any new data practice, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before that functionality is released.

9. Security

CalcCopy is designed to minimize data exposure by processing calculations locally, limiting site access to the supported AI domains required for its disclosed function, and avoiding remotely hosted executable code.

10. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

CalcCopy complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Website content accessed by CalcCopy is used only to provide or improve the user-facing calculation-transfer functionality described above. CalcCopy does not use or transfer that data for personalized advertising, unrelated profiling, or other prohibited purposes.

11. Changes to this policy

If CalcCopy's data practices or supported sites change, this policy will be updated before or at the same time as the relevant product change, together with any Chrome Web Store disclosure updates that are required.
